Erica Walker was named the Assistant Principal at the West Plains Middle School for the 2013-2014 school year. Walker currently serves as the Family and Consumer Science Instructor at the West Plains Middle School. Walker has 13 years of classroom experience. She has been in her current position 11 years.
The West Plains Middle School Vocal Music Department had a successful spring semester. The 6th grade choir and the 7th & 8th grade choir received 1 ratings at the Lebanon Junior High Choral Festival in March. In April, the 6th-8th grade Boy's Chorus and 6th-8th grade Girls Chorus competed at the College of the Ozarks Music Festival. Each group received a 1 rating. Congratulations to the West Plains Middle School math relay team for winning 1st place at the MESCM Math Relays at MSU-West Plains. The competition included 9 schools and 180 students. Ribbons were awarded to the top 5 in each division.

The criteria to be a student of the month are good work habits, regular attendance, and that homework is turned in on time. We also look for good citizenship/helping both teachers and students without being asked, their involvement in extra-curricular activities and also their participation in community service.

Coffee Talk provides parents and community members an informal opportunity to meet with Superintendent, Dr. Fred Czerwonka. The sessions will also serve to educate parents and community members on various set topics at West Plains Schools.
The WPMS 6th grade will present the musical "School House Rock, Jr." on December 15th and 16th at the Avenue Theater at 7pm nightly.
WPMS Map assemblies to recognize students who scored in the proficient and advanced categories, as well as, raised their scores to the next level will be held November 16th and 17th.
