
Smith has been in the West Plains school district for eight years and has served in various roles in the athletic program including; three years as the freshman boys' basketball coach, two years as the junior varsity boys' basketball coach with winning Ozark Conference records, and most recently as the junior varsity baseball coach. He has also spent the last eight years as a teacher in social studies, science, health and physical education. Prior to coming to West Plains, Smith was a basketball coach and teacher at Bakersfield and at Winona schools.
"Kevin not only has a great history in teaching and coaching at West Plains Schools, but he also has a passion for the game. We had a great pool of candidates and are very fortunate to welcome Coach Smith to the boys' basketball program," says Greg Simpkins, the district Activities Director. "Kevin is a quality individual who has a positive impact on all of our students in the classroom and on the basketball court."
